- Well....some bad news...
- The only things currently available are Alynx, a port of Lynx, which is a
- text based browser...
- If you have a shell account on your ISP, then they probably have this.
- It can be configured to download graphics and display them with an
- external program, but none of those fancy inlines.
- And, there was a version of Amosaic out there that worked for the 2.0
- machines...but its hard to find now, and doesnt support a lot.
- Again, no inlined graphics. You can show the graphics, but it takes
- longer, and will be on a seperate screen. And Amosaic doesnt support
- e-mail, or tables, etc...
- But it DOES have the LOOK of graphic browsers...
- Mouse driven, variable sized fonts, etc...
- Not to bad, in my opinion...
-
-
- Finally, there is a third option...
- You could upgrade to OS3.0, and use Ibrowse, Amosaic or AWEB. They use a
- feature of 3.0 called Dataytypes to display the inlined graphics...
- Pretty nifty. None of them are up to par with some of the PC or Mac
- browsers yet, but give them a little time...
- Hell, AWeb ought to be fantastic in a few months!
- OS 3.1 should be available for around 100 - 150 dollars....
- A lot cheaper than getting a new machine.
-
- With your accelerator and the 6 megs of ram, you should be in decent shape...
- Depends, really, on how FAST the accelerator is (you didnt say) and how
- fast your modem is...
- I've only got 4 megs of ram, and a 25 mhz accelerator with a '030 in it,
- and a 28.8 modem...
- Looks nice to me....
- Not as fast as the pentium at work, but really nice!
- And I use Aweb, which is faster than any of the others....
- Good luck!
